Les Deux Alpes - Ski Resort Guide

Deux Alpes is a reasonable sized town incorporating a range of styles from traditional chalets to recent developments. The lifts in the morning can seem overcrowded but once you ascend higher into the mountain range the crowds soon disappear. The resort boasts high snow-sure slopes, excellent off-piste options and sunny nursery slopes. This, along with a great party atmosphere throughout the resort makes it appealing to in the beginner and expert alike.

Les Deux Alpes - Ski

There is plenty to ski in Deux Alpes - with a vertical rise of 2000m and 220km of pistes! Only a few runs are available on the upper slopes but these include some easy runs - even beginners can enjoy the views from the top! Take a look at the Piste map. For the more adventurous the off-piste slopes of La Grave are a must, especially with a guide. The only downside is perhaps the end of the day run back to the main resort which is a choice between a narrow green and a steep black. Fortunately there are telecabines back for those that don't fancy either piste. Les Deux Alpes has built up an excellent reputation for snowboarding thanks to the snow park and high proportion of chair lifts - the Mondial du Snowboard competition is held here each year.

Les Deux Alpes - Town

Les Deux Alpes is a long narrow village - centred around one access road lined with a collection of accommodation, bars and shops. It is one of the liveliest resorts in France with the nightlife second to none offering a wide variety of pubs, bars, clubs and restaurants that are mostly located at the south end of town.

Activities

With activities and facilities such as ice skating, ice gliding, a swimming pool, sauna, gyms, cinemas and a bowling alley there is more than enough to keep you entertained.High octane activities such as paragliding and helicopter flights are also on offer.

For children aged 6 mths - 2yrs there is the Creche du Clos des Fonds (0033 476 790 262) or for older children aged 2-6 yrs try the Bonhomme de Neige (0033 476 790 677). Children over 5 yrs can be booked into Ski Lessons
